day two continued

o.k., the sun came out and the seas calmed down. Now it feels and looks like the Caribbean. The college students are all now taking a writing assessment. SO glad I don't have to do that! They have had a long and seemingly grueling day in my mind. One lecture after another; safety, health, honor code, etc. All day required. So age and seniority do have their advantages. I am currently sitting in the faculty lounge on the seven deck. It is closed to students (and Beatrix). All day it is a quiet room since the faculty use it as a collective space (no private offices onboard). At any rate, this is THE most exclusive space. Panoramic views out the front facing windows, above the bridge deck. There is a disco floor and serious lights and speakers, so I am wondering when we get to cut loose and dance like the kids we still think we are, but without embarrassing the "now" generation down stairs. Also, we can order hard alcohol here as well. Beer and wine is available in the dinning rooms and at the pool. The college kids can buy with limits, but I have not as yet seen a single beer. I know this voyage has a reputation of being the party trip of a life time, but I will tell you, the tone set thus far is for serious academics and socially responsible behavior. Time will tell of course.
