Seas: Choppy
We departed the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominica last night at 2000, and are now steaming East Southeast toward the mouth of the Amazon in Brazil. It is fairly choppy and nearly every 7th wave set, the ship plows into a large wave, splashing high over the bridge. We are making an amazing 22 knots, but the Explorer can reach 33 knots.... the captain has said he reserves that speed to outrun pirates.... perhaps we'll test that out through the Strait of Malacca just before Singapore... but that is two months away!
